J. Philip Bentley (President/CEO)
J. Philip Bentley was born in Stockton, California in 1949, the same year his father opened the ABDick Products Company at the corner of 18th and “M” Streets in Down Town Bakersfield, where it stands today. “Phil” was 6 months old when the family moved to Bakersfield and settled on “21”and B Street. An older brother and sister still reside in Bakersfield; his younger sister has relocated to San Luis Obispo.
Phil attended local schools, and after graduation from Bakersfield High School, he entered Bakersfield College in preparation for admission to Cal Poly University-San Luis Obispo where he obtained his BS Degree in Business.
After completion of his education at Cal Poly and to further his knowledge of the printing and copying industry, Phil applied for and was hired at ABDick Distributorship in Tucson, Arizona. After three years on the job he was promoted to Sales Manager of the copier division, experience that served him well when he returned to Bakersfield to join his father in the operation of a fast growing copier and printing business. He was the General Manager when his father retired in 1987. His father served as Chairman of the Board and was active in the daily operation until his death in 2001.
As President /CEO, Phil undertook a major remodel project of the old building at the18th and “M” Street adding a second floor and much needed space for sales, service, and display areas. Completed in 2002, the building has been retrofitted to code and modernized to complement our technologies business and is an added enhancement to downtown Bakersfield, in keeping with Phil’s philosophy of redevelopment.
From the beginning, John Philip Bentley, III “Phil” was a strong advocate for Downtown Bakersfield growth and renewal. His involvement in the Downtown Business and Property Owners Association (DBA) has been a continuing effort. He has served on many boards, including the Girl Scouts-Joshua Tree Council, Children’s Miracle Network, Crippled Children’s Society (published company cookbook & donated proceeds of $5000), YMCA, Memorial Hospital Foundation. Phil was also a founding member of & contributor to the California Living Museum (CALM), Phil was on the allocation committee for the United Way of Kern County for many years. He also is currently active with the Smart Growth Coalition, Bakersfield Symphony. Phil is currently serving on the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency Board and was recently asked to serve on the Small Business Development Centers Board of Advisors.
Phil’s company, ABDick/IPS is still a local, family-owned and well respected in the duplicating and copy industry. He has served on several National Boards, including the Dealer’s Council of ABDick-Chicago, the Duplo Dealer’s Roundtable, the Dictaphone advisory Board and others. Never one to avoid a challenge, Phil has participated in many fundraisers and other community betterment projects. He is a long time member of the Bakersfield Rotary Club downtown. When he finds time, he enjoys playing golf with his friends.
John Philip Bentley III, “Phil”, is an outstanding example of a true civic-minded individual.
Mark Roomsburg (Operations Manager)
Mark Roomsburg is our “go to guy”. When Mark joined our family, He started out in the Visalia office, then known as Halmar Company, which was a locally owned and operated ABDick Dealer for over 15 years. Halmar company was a recognized leader in the Visalia / Tulare market for the distribution of ABDick brand printing products. Halmar company’s owners, Marge and Harold Vanzant quickly recognized Mark’s ability and skill of diagnosing and the repairing of equipment and other types of office technologies. He was their Lead Technical engineer and quickly was promoted to Service Manager; He spent the rest of his tenure with Halmar leading the service department.
When ownership changed over and ABDick/IPS purchased Halmar Company, ABDick/IPS at that time had an opening and Mark applied for the position of Service Manager. ABDick/IPS recognized the contribution that Mark had given to Halmar Company for many years and awarded the position to Mark. He quickly proved his ability and leadership qualities. He has since along with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the service department, has been given added responsibilities and promoted to Operations Manager. Mark is celebrating over 21 years with our family.
Bobbie Moore (Administrative Assistant)
Ariana Estrada (Front Desk/Production/Notary Public)
Ariana is one of the newest employees to the AB Dick IPS family. She recently started in May 2010 and she is the voice and face you’ll hear and see when you call or come to visit.
Ariana was born in Mission Hills, California and her family moved to Bakersfield when she was 2 years old. She attended local schools and graduated from Bakersfield High School. She then went on to graduate from California State University, Bakersfield in 2008 with a B.A. in Communications. After graduating, Ariana and her brother opened a small business named Post Sprint. They offered packing and shipping services through FedEx and the U.S. Postal Service, and also offered wireless cell phone service through Sprint/Nextel. Unfortunately, due to the tough economy, Ariana and her brother had to close their business after 19 months. The opportunity to come work for AB Dick IPS presented itself when her mother mentioned that the company was hiring. She turned in her resume and the rest is history.
Ariana takes care of all customer service related issues, production jobs and is a Notary Public of California. When Ariana is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and her two cuddly kitties, Zeus and Dr. Kimble.
She also loves sports such as soccer, football, basketball, and softball and is currently playing in a co-ed softball league. Otherwise she loves to root for her favorite teams such as the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Ray Stubbs (Service Supervisor)
Ray was transferred to Bakersfield in 1979 by a large retail organization. He left that company in 1981. After 8 years as an Insurance Adjuster he decided to make a career change & went back to school to become an Electronics Technician. In February of 1990 Ray came to work at A. B. Dick/IPS as a Field Service Technician & now serves as Service Supervisor.
Jason Riley (Sales Representative)
Jason was born in Napa, California and grew up in Puyallup, Washington. Jason came to the Central Valley where he attended and graduate from North High School. After high school, Jason attended Bakersfield College where he played baseball for one season. He recently graduated from the University of Southern California and came to us from a law firm in southern California. Jason is married to his high school sweetheart, who recently graduated from C.S.U.B. nursing program. Jason’s hobbies include sports, carpentry and outdoor activities. Jasom plans on attending a graduate school for business with an emphasis on the sports industry.
Cody Lancaster (Warehouse Supervisor)
Cody is 26 years old, and was born in Bakersfield, California. He has lived here all of his life. He attended Bakersfield College where he majored in Psychology for two years. He came to work for ABDick/IPS Company in 9/17/2009.
His hobbies are art, working on cars, taking road trips and spending time with his family and pets .
